On Budget Shutdowns and TSA
So here’s a little history lesson. Before we passed the 1985 Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act, government shutdowns were rare and when they happened the government was funded until a budget was passed at current levels without having to vote on it. Money comes into the federal government every day even if the Senate isn’t doing its job and still collecting their salaries. The idea was, the government would eventually come up with a deal and why punish federal workers. This worked great until Gramm-Rudman.
The idea of Gramm-Rudman was good—accountability sounds good. However, politicians learned they could use a government shutdown as a political weapon to count wins and losses for their caucus and not the people they represent. I wrote this a couple of years ago on the problem with the Senate and how they are fleecing the American people. Maybe I should run in 2028, but since I’m recovering from a heart attack, maybe that’s not my best idea.
The Senate is not doing their job—end of sentence.
And shame on them. The Democrat caucus is just mad that elections have consequences. Across the country there were No Kings rallies. What they were advocating for was overturning a duly elected president for doing what he promised to do. And, don’t say to me—-”What about Biden?” While I didn’t vote for him, I never said he wasn’t the president or suggested he should be thrown out of office just because he was clearly incompetent and my friends on the left knew it and said nothing until the summer of 2024.
And they were snookered with their own tricks in the Big Beautiful Bill where ICE and most border control was funded through 2028. Kinda like how they engineered the “healthcare” crisis in last year’s shutdowns Have you looked at the numbers? There are about as many people with health insurance now as there was last year.
You know, you just have to accept defeat instead of taking it out on $50,000 a year TSA workers. And have you seen the airports? ICE agents giving out water, saving children, saving spaces in line so people can go to the bathroom and manning ID and boarding pass checks like the pros they are. You democrats have said they were untrained for months and you were wrong. The tragedies in Minnesota a few months ago were tragic and shouldn’t have happened but if local law enforcement had cooperated, it wouldn’t have happened. Democrats, your sanctuary city policies caused those deaths and the many deaths caused by illegal immigrants around this country.
Truth is truth.
So start suspending your pay when you abdicate your responsibility to fund the government and cause workers to go without pay. In addition, you need to get back to sanity and that is if the the clock runs out, the government is automatically funded at current levels until you act like grown ups and do your job.
Don’t give me the laundry list of bipartisan easy to pass amendments to prove your worth. If you cannot keep the government running, you are a failure. I’ve said this when my own party has done this, and you guys have gone farther and stupider than any group I have ever seen while causing pain to people you don’t even know or care about. Then you have the gall to show up at a protest supposedly about government being accountable to the people. You are the ones acting like Kings…
I know this rant is a bit out of character for me. But a near death experience will do that to you. You are the ones that can’t handle the truth, so start acting your age and get the job done.
